On another note, I finally got everything figured out for the Yellow Fever vaccine! We're almost "All Systems Go" for our adventure.
The donation collection process has increased immensely! We've set up an area in the library to gather donations from people on campus, and Anna contacted the Des Moines Register to gain more awareness. Our story was on the front page! Also, with help from my Godfather, we have gained a wonderful group of supporters. I know other members from our group have been working hard and have acquired games, clothes, paint, and so much more. I'm so excited to see everyone's reactions.
What I'm most excited for is to meet all the Rwandans and people whom we'll be helping. I know they will change my life in so many ways; I can't wait to see how!
Now the trip is only 2 DAYS AWAY! Today we packed up our donations and it really began to hit me. When it came to donations, my family and friends helped tremendously! I can't thank everyone who donated to this cause enough! It makes me so happy that these items will be going to such wonderful people. I am in awe of the generosity people have shown. This trip has already made an impact on my life and we haven't even left yet.
ReplyDeleteAs the trip gets closer I have many emotions. I am so excited I can't think of anything else (now that finals are over). I am a little sad because I know I will miss my family and friends very much when I am away. I am nervous, mostly that I will get sunburned, and about the plane ride. I am thankful, for everything I am blessed with. I am anxious to meet all of the people Virginia and others have told us so much about. I can't wait to embark on this journey. I know that the friendships we make will be a bond no one else will share and the impact of this Rwandan Adventure will last a lifetime!
